Derived representation schemes and supersymmetric gauge theory

In these expanded lecture notes of the minicourse held at the workshop on Homotopy algebras, deformation theory and quantization at the Mathematical Research and Conference Center in Będlewo, the theory of derived representation schemes is reviewed with the aim to present the simplest instance of the relation to $N=2$ supersymmetric gauge theory.
